How do I open a Personal Deposit account with Anglo Irish Bank?

Do I have to visit the Bank personally to open an account?

Not necessarily. We can mail the appropriate account opening documents to you. Simply call any member of our Personal Deposit Team on 1850 44 22 22.

How do I know which type of account is suitable for me?

There are various questions that you must ask yourself when choosing a Personal Deposit account with us here at Anglo Irish Bank.

What is the minimum investment?

The minimum investment is �2,000 for all of our Personal Deposit accounts.

 

What are the fees and charges attached to the different types of accounts?

Currently at Anglo Irish Bank we do not have any charges or account-handling fees for you to worry about.

 



Can I take an income and how often?

This would depend on the type of account you choose. See below.
  • 7 Day Notice account = Income can be taken on a monthly basis.
  • 1, 3, 6, 9 Month Fixed Term accounts = there are no income options on these accounts
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Year Fixed Term accounts = Income can be taken on a monthly or an annual basis.

How can I receive my income?

  • A) Income can be transferred to a nominated account
  • B) Income can be sent to you by cheque

If I leave the interest in my account, how often will it be compounded?

  • 7 Day Notice account = Interest will be credited to the account on the 31st December each year or the nearest working day.
  • 1, 3, 6, 9 Month Fixed Term accounts = Interest in calculated daily and added to the account on final maturity.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Year Fixed Term accounts = Interest is credited to the account on the first anniversary and every year thereafter until final maturity.

What type of access will I have to my funds over the term of each respective account without incurring any penalty?

  • 7 Day Notice account = 100% access to your funds at only 7 days notice.
  • 1, 3, 6, 9 Month Fixed Term accounts = No access to your funds.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Year Fixed Term accounts = 10% access to your funds per annum.

What will happen upon maturity of a product?

  • 7 Day Notice account = there is no final maturity date to this account.
  • 1, 3, 6, 9 Month Fixed Term accounts = the accounts will automatically roll to an Account with the same Term and the then prevailing Terms and Conditions and interest rate for this Account will apply.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Year Fixed Term accounts = If the Bank does not receive instructions from the Account holder (s) on or before the final day of the 1/2/3/4 or 5 Year Fixed Term Accounts (after having given written notification to the customer of the final maturity date and the options available to them),your Account will convert to a Premium Demand Deposit Account, and the then prevailing Terms and Conditions and interest rate for the Premium Demand Deposit Account will apply.

How often will I receive statements?

  • 7 Day Notice account = annually in January.
  • 1, 3, 6, 9 Month Fixed Term accounts = annually on 31st December.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Year Fixed Term accounts = on the first anniversary of the account and every year thereafter until final maturity.

When will I receive my confirmation of investment?

You will receive a confirmation of investment on each account within 48 hours of account opening.

What is the best way of transferring funds in and out of my account?

The simplest and quickest way to send funds into your account is by Swift/telegraphic transfer. However, it is of course possible to send a cheque or draft, (same day value for �31,750 or more provided the cheque is here by 10 am that morning). When sending funds out of your account, we can organise a cheque or a funds transfer to your nominated bank account - whichever is most suitable for you.

(Please note: for 3rd party payments we would require instructions from the account holders either by fax or mail).

Can I send instructions by e-mail?

We are happy to answer any general enquires by e-mail, however due to security reasons we are unable to accept orders or discuss specific account details.

Can I have a cheque book or Credit card with my account?

As our main objective here at Anglo Irish Bank is to provide excellent rates and service on lump sum deposit accounts, this is a service we are unable to provide.
