YOUR CHOICE

With Anglo Irish Bank, you can choose from two types of notice deposit account:

Easy access
If you want to get hold of your money at short notice but still benefit from competitive interest rates, choose our Easy Access Deposit Account.

Higher interest
If you would prefer to earn a higher interest rate and you are happy to give us more notice when you want to withdraw money, choose our 7 Day Notice Deposit Account.

  • No notice required for withdrawals
  • Same-day funds transfers*
  • A minimum balance of £500
  • A variable interest rate guaranteed to at least equal the Bank of England's base rate (until 1 January 2007)
  • An interest rate that accrues daily
  • Interest credited to the account annually on 31 March each year
  • Annual statement issued in April each year

About our 7 Day Notice Deposit Account

  • Available by post or telephone
  • Seven days' notice required for withdrawals*
  • A minimum balance of £500
  • A variable interest rate guaranteed to at least equal the Bank of England's base rate (until 1 January 2007)
  • An interest rate that accrues daily
  • Interest credited to the account annually on 31 March each year
  • Annual statement issued in April each year

*Funds will be sent on that day, or if that is not a business day, on the next business day provided the instruction is received before 2pm on that day. For the 7 Day Notice Deposit Account, funds will be sent by cheque or electronic transfer on the 7th calendar day, or if that is not a business day on the next business day. Please note: BACS transfers usually take 3 working days to become available in your nominated account after the day of transfer.

OPENING YOUR ACCOUNT

There are four straightforward steps to opening a Personal Deposit Account with Anglo Irish Bank.

  1. Apply online using our Internet Application Form or download and print our user-friendly application form in PDF format (This form is provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. If you do not have a copy of Acrobat Reader click here).
  2. Compile the relevant identification documents. These must be originals.
  3. Issue a cheque from your personal current account for your initial deposit. Click here for details.

CONFIRMING YOUR IDENTITY

UK money laundering regulations mean that we have to ask you for proof of identity. We won't be able to open your account without the correct identification documents.

If you're already a customer of Anglo Irish Bank, you don't have to provide proof of identity or address.

If your application is in your name only:
We will need to see two forms of original address identification documents from the list below.

If your application is in joint names:
We will need to see two forms of original address identification documents for each applicant from the list below.

Proof of identity

We need to see two of the following five types of documentation for each applicant.

  • An original bank statement from the account where your initial deposit cheque has originated, dated within the last three months
  • An original Inland Revenue notice of tax coding for this current tax year
  • Gas, electricity, water or land telephone (not mobile) original utility bill at your current address, dated within the last six months
  • An original Council Tax bill at your current address for this current tax year
  • Other original personal financial statements (credit card statement or another personal UK bank account) at your current address, dated within the last three months

We will return these documents to you within five business days of receipt.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR INITIAL DEPOSIT

By personal cheque for a minimum amount of £500

  • Your cheque should be made payable to Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc and marked 'a/c payee only'.
  • No third-party cheques will be accepted, (i.e. company drafts, dividends or cheques drawn on other personal names).
  • Your cheque must be drawn on a UK personal bank account.
  • If your application is in your sole name, your cheque should be drawn on a personal account in the exact name as the applicant. For joint applicants your cheque should be drawn on a joint personal account in the exact names of the applicants. (If you do not have a joint account, we will require a personal cheque from each applicant just for your initial lodgement).

INFORMATION ON YOUR ACCOUNT IS REGULAR, TRANSPARENT AND EASILY ACCESSIBLE.

  • We will send you written confirmation of your new account number, initial deposit and the applicable interest rates within three business days of receiving your application
  • We will confirm any transactions on your account
  • We will tell you about any interest rate changes
  • We will send you an annual statement in April of all transactions on your account for the previous year

PUTTING MONEY IN

When operating your account we aim to make the deposits and withdrawals processes very simple and efficient.

As well as providing further personal cheques from your nominated UK personal current account, you may also make lodgements by post or transfer to your account, using these three alternatives:

(a) Bankers or Building Society Draft

(b) BACS (3 Day Electronic Bankers Transfer)

(c) CHAPS/SWIFT Payment (Same Day Electronic Transfer)

TAKING MONEY OUT

With our two deposit accounts you are not tied in to lengthy notice periods. Your money is accessible immediately with the Easy Access Account, and with just 7 days' notice with the 7 Day Notice Deposit Account. It couldn't be easier, or faster, and you're always earning a high rate of interest.

  • Call our Personal Deposit Team on 08454 55 22 22
    (8am - 8pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England and Wales).
    - Electronic payments will only be made to the bank account from which your initial lodgement originated.
    - Cheques will only be made payable to the same name as the account holder.
  • Once we have confirmed your details and characters from your nominated password, the withdrawal request will begin its notice period (if any).
  • Please note that no withdrawal slips are required.
